Eleanor (McCarthy) Naimo

Eleanor Mary Josephine Naimo (McCarthy), of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2020.

Eleanor was born in Watertown, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles A. and Mildred J. (Alls) McCarthy and beloved sister of Gloria, Charles and Paul McCarthy.

Eleanor was the dear wife of the late Joseph D. Naimo, Jr., devoted mother of Charles McCarthy Naimo of Lunenburg, MA, Ronald McCarthy Naimo and his wife Kelly of Pepperell, MA, Tracy Naimo Hamilton of Ipswich, MA and Michel McCarthy Naimo and his wife Dawn of Wilmington, MA. Eleanor was a loving grandmother, fondly known as Memère and Mimi to Shelby, Harrison, Keira, Benjamin, Nicholas, Jonathan, Joseph, Anthony and Dominic.

Before settling down in Wilmington and achieving her dream of motherhood, Eleanor traveled the world while working for American Airlines. She also worked as a legal assistant, while taking classes at Suffolk University, taught ballroom dancing and was a breeder of champion Dobermans. In 1966, her first child was born then had 3 more children every 2 years after, this being her greatest joy. Nothing mattered more than the good health & happiness of her children. She was our caregiver, protector, confidant and mentor who believed we could accomplish anything. She instilled love, compassion, loyalty and kindness in all of us. She was our 24/7, whether 3PM or 3AM, just a phone call and she was there. She believed in the goodness of people, had a wise sense of humor, valued new & old traditions, had a passion for research & learning, gems & jewelry, perfect gift-giving and her beloved Dobermans, especially her current fur baby “Secret”. She touched and cared deeply for others and in the worst of times, she never gave up her faith & truly believed in the power of prayer.

As she raised her young children, she worked nights as a fashion consultant for Queen’s Way Fashions. With her school-aged children, she became very active in the school system, eventually becoming a child school advocate for families. This further lead to her becoming a court-appointed advocate for abused children. She had an endless desire to help others, especially children. For many years, she hosted foreign exchange students and always enjoyed a full house of her kids & their friends. She retired from Winchester Hospital, where she worked as a home healthcare aid when her grandchildren were born. These 9 adored children brought her more happiness than could ever be expressed. She had a very unique & special relationship with each one. They could do no wrong in her eyes and she had the ability to make each of them feel like they are the most amazing, most important and most perfect person in the world. Whether a special occasion, a quick visit, a phone call, or an afternoon of story-telling or playing, she cherished every moment and couldn’t get enough of her “kid fix” from them.

Eleanor was proud, selfless, supportive and beyond generous to her family, friends or anyone who was important to us. She fought so hard to stay with us and even on her sickest days, her priority was still the safety and well-being of her children & grandchildren. She was not only our mother or grandmother, she was our friend, our everything who is deeply loved & will be missed every day. It was an honor & blessing to have her in our lives.

Due to the current situation of Covid 19 and for everyone’s safety, Eleanor’s family has decided to have private services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to Boston Children’s Hospital, in memory of Eleanor Naimo. Contributions can be made at bostonchildrens.org/givenow. Patricia A. (O’Neill) Meeker, “Patsy”, age 80, of Wilmington, formerly of Charlestown, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2020, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Patsy was born on January 9, 1940, in Boston, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Eugene and Eleanor O’Neill. Patsy was raised and educated in Charlestown and a graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School.

While out one evening with friends, by chance, Patsy met her future husband John “Jack” Meeker on a bus on their way to the Mission Hill Church. Jack was just home from active duty with the Army and he was heading to the Church to pray a Novena for returning home safely; the couple “hit it off” right away and were inseparable. They soon married, raised a family and shared many wonderful years together before his passing in June of 2018.

Patsy and Jack moved “up country” to Wilmington in 1973 but she stayed close to her roots in Charlestown; a true Townie and proud of it. Patsy was a very devoted wife and mother; she dedicated her time to raising her children and was involved in every aspect of their lives. Patsy was there to help with many school projects or concerts and was their biggest fan when she attended their countless sporting events.

When Patsy became a “Nana” her world became a whole lot brighter; she adored her grandchildren and knew how to make each of them feel special. Patsy never missed a chance to spend time with those kids as she never missed a dance recital, school event or sporting event; anything to make them happy. Patsy also had her “furry grandchildren” who she loved to spoil as well.

Patsy worked hard throughout the years; she took a position at Mass General Hospital before she had her children and as they came along she decided to focus on raising them and took a long leave of absence. Patsy then worked hard for her family and when her youngest started school she went to work in the school cafeteria. After her children were grown, Patsy went back to MGH/Partners Healthcare and worked as a Data Entry Specialist until her retirement.

In her spare time, Patsy, loved to shop; she enjoyed finding a good bargain or hunting down a specialty item for her family and friends; if you needed something Patsy would gladly find it for you.

Patsy will be fondly remembered as a “social butterfly”; she could walk into a room of strangers and be a friend to everyone before she left. Patsy was kind and caring; she had an endearing personality and went out of her way to do for others. She loved her family and friends unconditionally; treasuring every moment spent with them. Patsy was so proud of her children and grandchildren and she didn’t mind sharing her sentiments with others. Patsy was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Patsy was the beloved wife of the late John F. “Jack” Meeker, devoted mother of John Meeker & his wife Sheila of Dracut, Ann Marie Maguire & her husband Michael of Billerica, Kathleen “Kathy” Tivnan & her husband the late Robert of Dracut and Kevin Meeker & his wife Jamie of Andover, loving “Nana” of Jillian, Jake, Kaitlyn, Connor, Brendan, Lindsey, Mia, James and Teddy, cherished daughter of the late Eugene and Eleanor (Burns) O’Neill, dear sister of Eleanor Collins, Mary O’Neill, Rita Murphy & her husband Bill, Ann Marie Harding & her husband John and the late Eugene O’Neill, Robert O’Neill and Margaret Kent, sister-in-law of Susan Britten & her husband Danny and Patricia O’Neill. Patsy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as her life-long friends Florence Ryan and Angela McCarthy.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, August 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Patsy will take place in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington on Wednesday, August 19th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. All guests attending services are required to wear masks in the funeral home and church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Patsy’s memory to the Pan-Mass Challenge, Attn: Kevin Meeker -93534-0, 77 Fourth Ave., Needham, MA 02494. www.nicholsfuneralhome.com

When Bob was shipped out, Joyce established their first home in Boston in where they started their family. Bob was never one to sit still, so following his retirement from Sanders he took a job as an Usher and Greeter at the Showcase Cinema in Woburn.

Bob’s unconditional love and support for his family was evident in everything he did. Bob was a devoted and faithful husband to his wife of 64 years, a wonderful father, son, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bob went out of his way to do for others; he was a great mentor and inspiration to many. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob will always be known for his “Family First” attitude and for not say goodbyes but rather he would say “see you later alligator” and he would received the answer “after a while crocodile” from his children and grandchildren.
